How to Start Two-Factor Authentication ?

Lukoon

In today's digital age, a simple password is often not enough to keep your account safe. Hackers are getting smarter, but so are security tools. Enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of protection to your profile, ensuring that only you can access your data.

Prerequisite: Before starting, download the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device from the Play Store or App Store.

Why Turn on 2FA?

Two-Factor Authentication requires two forms of identification: your password and a randomly generated code (OTP) from your phone. Even if someone steals your password, they cannot login without your phone.

How to Enable 2FA: Step-by-Step

Follow these simple steps to secure your account instantly. Refer to the settings panel in your dashboard.

  1. Access Your Settings
Log in to your account. On the sidebar menu, look for the user options and click on Settings & Privacy.
  2. Navigate to Security
In the Settings menu, find the Security Settings dropdown. Here you will see options for Password management and "Two-Factor Authentication".
  3. Activate 2FA
Click on the Two-Factor Authentication tab. You will see a screen titled "Configuring Your Authenticator".
Security Tip: Never share your QR code or the setup key (e.g., 6VLX...) with anyone. This key gives direct access to your OTP generator.

Scanning the QR Code

Once you are on the setup screen (as shown in the screenshots above), follow these actions:

  • Open the Google Authenticator App on your phone.
  • Tap the (+) button and select "Scan a QR code".
  • Point your camera at the QR code displayed on your screen.

If you cannot scan the code, you can select "Enter a setup key" in the app and manually type the code shown on your screen (e.g., 6VLXGDIGJV...).

Final Verification

Once scanned, the app will generate a 6-digit code. Enter this code into the "Verification Code" box on the website and click the button below.

Success! Your account is now secured. You will need to enter a code from your phone every time you log in from a new device.
